Falcons Beat the Eagels, Vick Gets Injured

By Kavin Caruso

Last night at the Georgia Dome, Michael Vick and his Philadelphia Eagle thought they could run over the Atlanta Falcons. WRONG!! The Atlanta Falcons beat the Philadelphia Eagles 35-31. It was an electrified night that both teams put up a dogfight. Yes a dogfight, the Falcons showed no mercy to the Eagles. The Eagles came in with a 1-0 record, last week they beat the St.Louis Rams in St.Louis. The Falcons lost their season opener in Chicago.

The Falcons got on the board first in the 1st quarter.Roddy White scored a 2 yard touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to go up 7-0. The Falcons made some good offensive plays early on, they wanted to keep Michael Vick off the field.

In the 2nd quarter, the Eagles scored twice, one was a Jeremy Maclin 5 yard touchdown pass from Vick to tie the game. Then later the Eagles took a 10-7 lead on an Alex Henry 22 yrd field goal. The Falcons came back and scored another touchdown by Tony Gonzalez. Tony Gonzalez scored a 4 yard touchdown pass from Matt Ryan. The Falcons took a 14-10 lead at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, the Falcons increased their lead to 11 on a 17 yard touchdown pass from Ryan to Gonzalez. Things are looking good for the Falcons.

But Michael Vick and the Eagles were not done yet. Jermey Maclin of the Eagles scored a 36 yard touchdown pass from Vick to make it 21-17. The Eagles scored another touchdown after an interception thrown from Matt Ryan. The Eagles took the lead when LeSean McCoy ran for an 8 yrd touchdown run to make it 24-21. Later in the quarter the Eagles got another touchdown by LeSean McCoy, on a 2 yrd run to make it 31-21. Now it seems like the Eagles are in control. Fourth Quarter sure made a difference.

In the 4th quarter, Matt Ryan threw a 1 yard touchdown to Ovie Mughelli to make it 31-28. Then suddenly things went sour for the Eagles. During one of their drives, Michael Vick get hit by own teammate and got injured. He threw up blood and had to leave the game. He ended up getting a concussion

The Falcons later got the ball back and this time running back Michael Turner scored a touchdown. Micheal Turner scored a 3 yard touchdown run to make it 35-31 Falcons. Philadelphia's new quarterback Mike Kafka had to come in and try to make a comeback. He didn't do too bad but the Falcons held on for their first win of the year.

Next week the Falcons face Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa. The Buccaneers did beat the Vikings yesterday. On some stats note, Matt Ryan threw 4 touchdowns, that's a new career record for 1 game for Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan threw for 195 yards, Michael Turner rushed for 114 yards. Turner made some good runs during the game. Tony Gonzalez had 83 yards of receiving.
