Ray Edwards Comes to Atlanta

The Atlanta Falcons signed former Minnesota Viking DE Ray Edwards for 5 yrs. The Falcons released Jamaal Anderson then later this afternoon they signed Ray Edwards. Ray Edwards had 8 sacks last season, he had 8.5 in 2009 and a total of 29 sacks career.

The Falcons were going to pursue Charles Johnson, former UGA standout, but the Carolina Panthers signed him with a nice deal.

Ray Edwards, a former Purdue DE will bring experience to the defense and hoping for a good pass rushing tadem on the opposite side of John Abraham.

The Falcons also released wide receiver Michael Jenkins yesterday. Former Ohio State wide receiver, he played for the Falcons since 2004. After drafting Julio Jone, the future of Michael Jenkins were thinning.

He hadn't had 100 yard receiving game since 2008. Michael Jenkins and Jamaal Anderson were former 1st round picks by the Falcons. Jamaal Anderson was drafted in 2007.
