Washington vs Baylor Alamo Bowl Preview

Washington vs. Baylor With Washington (7-5) and Baylor (9-3) kicking off at 8 p.m. on December 29, in San Antonio, you can expect a barrage of points. Washington has allowed over 400 yards/game on defense and let up 45 touchdowns in 12 games. Fortunately for the Huskies, they scored 47 touchdowns of their own and feature a very strong quarterback/running back combo.

Chris Polk rushed for over 1,300 yards this season and can go the distance at any time, and sophomore quarterback Keith Price threw for over 2600 yards and 29 touchdowns in the first season of the post-Jake Locker era in Seattle. On the other side of the field, you have the Baylor Bears.

To understand how good Robert Griffin III is, you just need to realize that the Baylor Freaking Bears won 9 games. Consistently at the bottom of the Big 12, this year has been a magical one for RG III and his compadres in Waco. Gathering over 570 yards/game on offense and scoring 68 touchdowns, Baylor's offense has been pretty much unstoppable. Unfortunately, the defense has let up almost 480 yards/game and 56 touchdowns.

Part of this is due to the quick-strike ability of the offense, resulting in more possessions for the other team, but the Baylor defense is pretty weak regardless. When you have RG III, and his 4600 combined yards and 45 combined touchdowns, guiding your offense, you only need to slow down the opposing team a little.

So, you can pretty much write down 70 points in pen, as the strength of both teams goes up against the weakness of both teams. Washington beat the teams they should and lost to the teams they should, they are an average team with some good and bad aspects. Baylor's three losses were all on the road, and with the game being played in their home state, and the fan base hungry for any type of success, this game should play as a de facto home game for the Bears.

Also, it is likely Robert Griffin III's last collegiate game, and expect him to put on a show. Baylor should be up around 50 points and Washington will get a few too. Baylor 52 Washington 31
